Privet - Over eight years ago I met the most wonderful Russian woman in the world! What started as friends on the Internet per e-mails and text messages, became a dream come true for this American. I moved to Russia seven years ago and have never, one time in all those years, regretted that move to Russia. In fact, I have realized over the years that Russia is safe, incredibly fantastic and a wonderfully explicit country to live and travel in. I have been lucky in many ways and meeting a normal Russian woman whose main goal is not to leave Russia, that was a blessing in disguise, as I was the one who had to make the hard decision to leave my country. It was a decision that I have never ever regretted and it also opened my eyes to a whole new world of ideas and thinking's. So welcome to Windows to Russia and stay a spell, sip a cup of coffee. GOP debate: expect more grenades tossed Newt Gingrich’s way

Tonight’s GOP presidential debate is the most imortant two hours of the year in US politics. Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and the other Republican rivals gather in Sioux City, Iowa, like the survivors of a first world war battle huddling in a trench. One by one, the Republican candidates have gone over the top. Some [...]

December 13, 2011 by legitgov ShareThis Mitt Romney challenges Rick Perry to $10,000 bet in GOP debate 11 Dec 2011 In a moment during Saturday’s GOP debate in Iowa that The Fix’s Chris Cillizza called a “rare but likely costly unforced error,” former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney challenged Texas Gov. Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich set for showdown in crucial GOP debate

After seeing his rivals for the GOP presidential nomination self-destruct one by one, tonight’s debate in Iowa offers Mitt Romney his best opportunity to arrest Newt Gingrich‘s sudden surge in popularity. As poll after poll in recent days has shown that Gingrich has replaced Romney as undisputed frontrunner for the Republican nomination, Romney’s campaign has [...]

In other news: cheesecake, please! | Ana Marie Cox

• There are many reasons Newt would be a terrible president. None of them is new, most of them are the same reasons he’s a terrible candidate. Re-read some of the best-written arguments now, before you read them again later: he wants to FUNDAMENTALLY REFORM EVERYTHING. He lacks discipline. His metaphors suck. He is, however, [...]

Those GOP debate gaffes in full | Ana Marie Cox

At this point, I’m going to insist that Perry still has a chance – mostly out of spite for conventional wisdom. This describes most of my career. Watching the debate Thursday morning, I was struck mostly by the lack of economic policy in the economic policy debate. Most responses boiled down to getting rid of [...]

GOP debate in Michigan – as it happened

11.18pm ET: In summary: this was a cosmically awful debate. To talk about winners and losers here makes no sense. Like the Battle of the Somme, any gains were measured in inches. Except that there was a clear loser: Rick Perry, who botched an answer so badly, when he failed to remember a list of [...]

Why Occupy Wall Street is not just a leftwing Tea Party | Ana Marie Cox

Why hasn’t the Occupy Wall Street movement generated its own Joe the Plumber or Herman Cain? There are progressive millionaires available to run! What’s more, OWS – or at least, the issues that propel it – are vastly more popular than the Tea Party that gestated Cain and gave Joe his soapbox. A New York [...]

The GOP debate – finally

GOP debate: Romney and Perry round on Cain ahead of Las Vegas showdown

Two of the leading Republican candidates for the White House, Mitt Romney and Rick Perry, have criticised the latest star of the party right, Herman Cain, hours before the presidential debate in Las Vegas. Both candidates expressed scepticism about the viability of Cain’s 9-9-9 tax formula, and hope to land more punches on the former [...]

GOP debate: Is Herman Cain able to stay on top of the Republican pack?

Herman Cain has gone up like a rocket in the race to be the Republican presidential nominee. But if the other candidates get their way, Tuesday night’s GOP debate in Las Vegas could see him come down like a stick. An African-American in a party that currently receives little support from African-Americans, Cain’s pithy soundbites [...]
