This lot of Puer tea cake was produced in 2006 and stored in the dry warehouse since then. After many years’ fermenting, it tastes sweet and refreshing, with strong aroma emitted in the air after brewing.
With tea leaves harvested from the old trees in Menghai, and processed by traditional workmanship, the tea cake looks round in shape, suitably tight in the form. The infusion is brightly red and can be brewed repeatedly – normally 10-15 times. You definitely will miss its taste after drinking!
Why is the standard weight of Puer tea cake 357g?
I believe that a lot of people buy 357g puer tea for drinking, but an interesting question is “why is Puer tea cake made as 357g?”
As a tea lover, I would be happy to share with you, my dearest customers, the secret about Puer tea.
In Chinese culture, the digit “7” represents good luck, which is consisting of seven good things: children, land, fortune, long life, happiness, high salary and treasure.
According to ancient Chinese weight, 357g is equal to 7 tael, which matches exactly the lucky number 7. Moreover, tea producers usually pack 7 tea cakes in a barrel. That’s why Puer tea is also called “Chi Tse Beeng” – means “lucky 7 cake”. After hundreds years’ time, “Chi Tse Beeng” has become the symbol of Puer tea.
