Fukushima, Tokyo saw fewer births in April-June amid radiation fears 18 Nov 2011 The number of births between April and June fell significantly in nuclear crisis-hit Fukushima Prefecture as well as Tokyo and two neighboring prefectures, while more deliveries were recorded in northern and western Japan further away from the center of radiation contamination, a recent survey showed. The Japan Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which conducted the nationwide survey, said it believes many expecting mothers evacuated from those areas to give birth elsewhere.
