LAS CRUCES – Former Sunland Park City Councilor Angelica Marquez has been indicted on temptation charges, according to justice documents.
The charges branch from allegations that Marquez, 41, “did appeal or accept a promise” from Veronica Monarez, a sister of former Sunland Park Police Chief Luis Monarez – to not run for domestic office.
Luis Monarez and former Sunland Park mayor-elect Daniel Salinas were charged progressing this year with temptation for allegedly perplexing to have Veronica Monarez not run for City Council opposite a District 6 incumbent, Jessica Avila.
Marquez is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 20 during Doña Ana County District Court. She is charged with perfectionist or receiving a cheat by pubic officer or employee, and swindling to dedicate perfectionist or receiving a cheat by open officer or employee.
Marquez is already confronting tentative charges associated to extortion, temptation and voter fraud. She allegedly purebred during slightest 5 non-residents of Sunland Park to opinion in a town’s Mar 6 metropolitan elections.
Matthew Valenzuela, 20, of El Paso, was also indicted Thursday on voter fraud-related charges. He allegedly used Marquez’s neighbor’s residence to register to opinion in Sunland Park, authorities said.
Marquez is also indicted of participating in an purported coercion tract opposite former mayoral claimant Gerardo Hernandez to extort him with a video display him with a topless dancer.
