A former DeKalb County military major was convicted Friday of temptation for holding income from a businessman in sell for his assistance in disagreements with others.
Willie Durrett was convicted of one swindling assign and dual temptation counts. His co-defendant, former Deputy Chief Donald Frank, pleaded guilty a year ago to one count of swindling to take bribes, and businessman Amin Budhwani pleaded guilty in 2010 to profitable bribes to Frank. Both testified opposite Durrett.
According to testimony, Budhwani initial asked Durrett in 2007 to assistance him dominate a tiny business owner. Durrett, identifying himself as a military officer, done melancholy phone calls to a male who eventually paid Budhwani some-more than $10,000 to settle their dispute. Durrett after helped Budhwani again with a feud Budhwani had with business partner.
Durrett will be condemned Sept. 27. He could get adult to 30 years in jail and fines of adult to $750,000.
